We called it the Danger Park — it was designed to be dangerous — note all the bare concrete and splintery wood. It was designed to hurt kids; the point is, kids need real danger in order to learn the edges of their capabilities.
Fascinating. I grew up playing in the woods, and around plenty of natural and unnatural hazards, from rusty nails and power tools to wildlife and weather. It was great. I’d be so much less of a person without that.
