No Strings Attached ★★★★☆ ∞
At least a point better than it’s 6.2 IMDb rating; I don’t know what anyone’s got against it. Maybe they were disappointed there wasn’t more crassness? Natalie Portman didn’t show enough tit? (She didn’t show any.) There’s nothing profound here, but it didn’t insult my intelligence either, and the script is more authentic, warm, and fun than the last couple dozen comedies I’ve seen. After a brief and fairly harmless frat-party start, it plays like a light drama with a decent witty script. If entertainment value is the main measure of a light film, I’m not sure why I wouldn’t go ahead and give it a perfect score.
