Rivalling the tragedy of wars, plagues & famines

Mass murders in America are now so frequent that they blur together. We can’t finish mourning one before there’s another, and then another.

While names like “Columbine” are burned into our brains, more recent mass murders are no longer culturally preserved, distinct, named horrors, but only another instance of an accelerating phenomenon. Mass murders are in and of themselves almost inconceivably awful … but a pattern of them? A mass murder trend?

This rivals the tragedy of wars, plagues and famines.
