A true oddball of a galaxy ∞

A roughly spherical galaxy, almost no dust, and seemingly no dark matter. This cosmic beastie is a true oddball.

Imagine the view from anywhere inside that thing! Most people don’t realize the extent to which most our our own galaxy is obscured by dust. Our view of the milky way consists almost exclusively of foreground stars. The view from inside NGC1052–DF2 would make our night sky look empty.
