Where the people are ∞
Marco Arment on the decline of blogs:
Everyone’s spending increasingly more consumption time dicking around in apps and snacking on bite-sized social content instead of browsing websites and searching Google. Publishers are relying more on social traffic not because Google’s squeezing them out, but because that’s where everyone went.
Yep. It’s a bit freaky. Every day, it feels more like social media is where everything is happening, and the open web is a wilderness where my thoughts go to wander aimlessly and unloved. Almost no one will read these words on my blog. A few will read it via RSS. Every day, it feels more like if I want to reach anyone, I have to post it on Facebook.
